Re: None They are from Switzerland. (james Windsor)
Isn't that interesting. I have never known about these folks and would love to know more about when they arrived and what the situation was. Yoder is of course one of the oldest of anabaptist names from Steffisburg. So many of the earlier migrants had spent generations along the Rhine, though after 1800 I suspect that wasn't true. Some who had migrated to the Pfalz quite early became part of a branch who went to Russia, and from there at some point to Woodburn of Oregon, which is only 30 or so miles away. I think these may have been "old believers", though I could be confusing them with Molokans who settled in Southern California and from there went to Baja California in the Guadalupe Valley for less expensive land. There they produced an important wine growing region for Mexico. I see that there is currently a Jon Eyman, an engineer in Canby of Clackamas who has been elected to the District Board of the county Community College. Isn't it great to see him doing what he can to make a difference. Wish I knew him.
