WarningUpdating to a newer version of a program

Wanted to share this with you all and hope I can save someone else the problems of recovering their files. I recently updated my FTM program from 2009 to the newer 2010 program which saves the files in a different format. I figured since the program stated that it needed to convert the old files 2009 and before to the new format 2010, that it would save these files in the 2010 version of the program. So dummy me I deleted the old 2009 folder. Then when I was talking to my Brother Yesterday I tried to access my program only to find I had no data. it seems the new files were being saved in the old folder. I was a bit upset, but remembered that my son Joe had backed up my program including over 5 gig of Media (pictures, census, etc). Luckily I haven't added to much data since the back up in Nov. I was only missing the data I got from my cousin Kory Moore and I have copies of all his emails and have saved the PDF copies of the data so I can recover it. So remember, back up, back up, back up. I couldn't even begin to try to recover all the data of 49 generations and so many different lines again. So again be 100% sure when upgrading or even changing programs that you back up your data before deleteing that older program.
